So, I tried tossing them into nDo to get a normal map out of it, and then a height map out of the normal map. Then I learned they need height map information. So, I thought, hey, I'll just go and find some interesting looking scratches on the internet, clean them up in photoshop, and use them for normal painting in 3D Coat. When I have tried using some of the other brush types (ones with shapes) it comes out a little bit better. Unfortunately, it seems that if I try and draw in details with just a regular brush, it always comes out fuzzy/pixelated. So, I am currently trying to use 3D Coat for adding in normal detail (mostly scratches/damage) to my models with the per pixel painting mode.
